Last weekend, my mother-in-law and I spent a day making several craft projects. Today I want to share with you my favorite one that we worked on that day. I’ve seen these chalkboard chargers in several places on Pinterest and at craft fairs so I have no idea where the idea originated, but I think we can all agree that they’re super cute! You can make this DIY decoration with any colored charger and a wide variety of accents to suit your personal taste.
So here’s how we made them:
Select the charger you want to use, and paint a circle on the inside of it with the chalkboard paint. I did the circle free hand by following the lines of the charger, but if you’re not confident in your ability to do it on your own you could also try a stencil.
Add the embellishments you’ve selected. For my example I chose a bow made out of a fall themed ribbon and some leaves. I attached them with hot glue.
With white paint, add the words that you want to be permanent on the charger. Since I’m using this one for Thanksgiving, I wrote “I’m thankful for.” Make sure to leave room for whatever you choose to write in chalk.
I also made a countdown to Christmas and an “I LOVE ____” for Valentine’s Day.
The best part about this DIY decoration is that you can spend one afternoon working on several of them and end up with decorations for many holidays and seasons! The three holidays I chose to do on this particular day were Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day (mostly because of the ribbon I had handy). I just love how they turned out, and I can’t wait to display them in our new home!
